Being a part of The Heights Violin Studio requires commitment for an entire quarter. The tuition covers all of the fees for the quarter: weekly private lessons, weekly group lessons, recital fee, piano accompanist fee, etc., and is non-refundable.
Please arrive early and come prepared to your lesson, which includes having enough sleep, having a snack, trimmed fingernails, and bringing all of the lesson materials. Each student is expected to practice daily and attend all of the lessons and group classes.
Please do not ring the doorbell when you arrive. Come in through the front gate and wait on the porch until your lesson. Please leave the gate open to allow the next student to do the same.
Please remember to silence all of your electronic devices and put them away during the lesson with an exception of using the devices to make video/audio practice recordings. Texting, using social media, and receiving/making calls in the lessons distract the student and minimize the impact of the lesson.
The teacher, parent and student form an equilateral triangle called the Suzuki Triangle. The teacher is responsible for educating the parent to be the student’s “Home Teacher” and suggesting how to take notes, practice, listen to the recordings, etc. in a nurturing environment. The parent is responsible for attending the lessons, taking notes, and adopting the teacher’s positive attitude to facilitate a daily routine of practicing with the child and playing the recordings at home. The student is responsible for understanding that her parent looks to the teacher for instructions regarding the instrument and all of the skills listed above and that the teacher is relying upon the parent to help the student master her assignment at home.
Please mark your calendar for all of the lessons, group lessons, events and recitals. Let the teacher know as soon as possible if you must miss a lesson. There are no makeup lessons. Please do not ask for a makeup lesson or to reschedule a lesson. If you wish to reschedule a lesson, use the studio directory to contact other parents to make a lesson switch. Let the teacher know about the lesson switch as soon as possible. If you must leave the studio in the middle of the quarter for any reason, please discuss with the teacher immediately.
Please do not bring a sick child to the lessons. If the child is too sick to go to school, the child is too sick for a violin lesson.
The Heights Violin Studio has an open door policy. You are welcome to invite your family, relatives, and friends to your lessons and group classes. On some days, you may have prospective students and other teachers in the community observing your lesson.
The Heights Violin Studio is not responsible for any injury, damage or loss during the course of involvement with the Heights Violin Studio.
The parents are asked to read Ability Development from Age Zero by Shinichi Suzuki. The Heights Violin Studio embraces Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy that every child can reach their potential when the learning environment is nurturing and fun.
